1. How do I get a library card?

To apply for a Center Line Public Library library card, you must live in the City of Center Line or own property in the City. If you are employed in the City or attend school in the City, you are eligible for a courtesy library card.  You must present a valid State-issued photo ID for a library card. Courtesy cards require additional ID in the form of a paystub or school ID.  If you have an existing library card from any library in Macomb County, Troy or Harper Woods, your card will work at the Center Line Public  Library. 

You must apply in person at the Center Line Public Library for your library card. Remember your valid ID.

2. Do I have to have a library card to use a computer?

No. We issue guest passes to people outside of our service area with proper ID. 

3. Does the Library have Wi-Fi?

Yes, the Library has Wi-Fi  It is password free, however, there is a proxy page with Terms & Conditions.  

4. Can I print from my laptop if I am using the Wi-Fi?

Yes. You can email your documents to cllmi48015@gmail.com.  

5. Why can't I log in?

Your card may be expired, you may have a fine, or you may not have the correct PIN. The desk clerks at the Circulation Desk can help you figure it out.  

6. Does the Library have computers for the public?

Yes, there are 10 computers for the public. You need your library card number and PIN to log on.  There is also a library catalog.  

7. How do I find tax forms?

Tax forms are available in the Library lobby from usually the end of January through April. Forms are also available online for federal taxes or state taxes.

8. Does my library card work at any other libraries?

Yes, your Center Line Public Library card will work at all libraries in Macomb County and also at the Troy Public Library and the Harper Woods Public Library because we all belong to the Suburban Library Cooperative.

9. Can I use my library card anywhere in Michigan?

No. Every library has different requirements for issuing library cards because libraries are funded mostly by local taxes. However, you are able to borrow items from most libraries in the state through MeLCat which is a federally-funded program through the State of Michigan. Visit the Michigan eLibrary website to have items sent directly to your home library or ask a Library employee to help you, or you can get a MILibraryCard sticker for your library card that will allow you to visit other participating libraries in Michigan and borrow print materials. 10. Can I suggest something for the Library to purchase?

Yes. The Library Director will consider anything you suggest, however it is not a guarantee that it will be purchased. It must fit into the budget and meet criteria normally considered for any purchase. Contact the Library Director.

11. Who do I tell if I have a complaint?

12. Where can I find a bus schedule or bus tickets?

Bus tickets are only available at City Hall. 

13. What are the charges for printing?

The charge for printing is $0.15 per page for black and white.  Black and white copies are $0.10, and color copies are $0.50.  Cash only, please.  

14. Does the Library have a copy machine?

Yes, the charge is $0.10 per page for black & white and $.50 for color. It has a document feeder and is able to make 2-sided copies.

15. Does the Library have a fax machine?

No. Center Line residents may fax at City Hall (7070 East Ten Mile Road) for $1 for the first page and $0.25 per page after.

16. Does the Library have a scanner?

Yes. You can scan from the copy machine directly to an email address.
