PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT
Your Public Safety Department is dedicated to providing the highest standard of police and fire services to you. During these difficult economic times we are asking the citizens of Center Line to work together with our officers to keep the city safe and a pleasant area to live and conduct business. Here are a few reminders to help our residents continue to enjoy the community that many generations have built.
The Public Safety Department is implementing a program to assist us in helping you.
If you or a family member is sick/injured or has a history of falling down and need medical attention, we can help, if you install a Key Storage Security Lock on your front door. You can register the lock with us. We will only use it to gain entry into the home to administer medical assistance and/or assist in emergency situations. We will not open the home for family or friends. Officers will not be permitted to use the keys to check on the interior of the home if you are out of town, even at your request. You will have control over who knows the combination you will set. The code, waiver, and contact list will be stored in our dispatch center and will only be accessible to Police personal when needed.
If you have any questions you may call our station and talk to a dispatcher or ask for Cpl. Kenneth Frizzell, Badge #29. We will let you know where you can purchase the locks and how to install them if requested.
School
September begins the new school year. We want all of our children to be safe go to and coming from school. Please obey the law when approaching a stopped school bus. If the lights are flashing, wait for them to stop. Do not pass the bus while it is loading or unloading children. The Public Safety Department provides crossing guards at certain intersections to help the children cross the street. They will stop traffic with a hand held stop sign. Remember, driving past this stop sign is the same as driving thru one at an intersection. You could receive a ticket. Help our bus drivers and crossing guards make sure that all of our children make it safely to and from school.
Fire Prevention Month
October is fire prevention month. Make your home safe by replacing the batteries in all smoke detectors. Clean away debris from your furnace and water heater. Store all flammable substances in appropriate containers and away from any flames. Your firefighters would like to meet you at a City social function, not while we are putting flames out at your home.
Halloween
The ghosts and goblins are sure to be out on October 31st. They are after every piece of candy they can fit into their bags. Unfortunately this means they are not too concerned about running to the next house across the street. While driving, please keep a close eye out for these children. Make sure the sidewalk is clear when backing out of or into your driveways.
Veteran’s Day
On this day of remembrance, November 11th, the Public Safety Department would like to recognize and thank all of the men and women that have served in all branches of the United States military. Without the sacrifices made by these brave individuals we would not enjoy the way of life that they have fought to maintain.
Holiday Safety
WOW! Didn’t all that snow just melt? Now we’re already talking about the upcoming holiday season. If you are putting up a real tree, please make sure that all of the lights are in good working order. Never use a stand of lights than have an exposed wire. Do not overload the outlets or connect too many strings of lights together they may overheat and cause a fire. When shopping, keep packages that are in your car covered or out of sight. We don’t want anyone breaking into your car to get them. Also, the person that you intend to give them to may pass by and ruin your surprise. Have a safe and wonderful holiday season.
