Staff Assistance in:
- Application preparation.
- Determining applicant eligibility
- Property inspections, cost estimates
- Contractor bid process
- Preparing construction contract
- Inspection to ensure contract compliance.
Work not performed:
- Manufactured housing
- Rental properties
In order to qualify, the applicant must:
- Own and occupy the home.
- Reside in the Macomb Urban County: jurisdiction (see shaded area on map.)
- Have homeowners' and flood (if applicable) insurance.
- Not be delinquent on property taxes.
- Have a household income at or below federal income limits as identified below:
Generally, repairs are those items which will result in the home being “decent, safe and sanitary.”
Virtually any house repair can be financed through the Program, including, but not limited to:
- Heating and energy items
- Entrance/storm doors
- Plumbing and sanitary fixtures
- Electrical work
- Replacement windows
- Replacement roofs
- Tap-in fees and water service
- Septic systems and wells
- Vinyl siding.
This program is designed to upgrade homes in the 21 communities which comprise the Macomb Urban County, but excludes Clinton Township, Roseville, Saint Clair Shores, Sterling Heights and Warren which have their own programs. Residents of those communities should apply at their municipal offices for assistance.
