GAME ROOM

Seniors are welcome anytime during business hours for pool playing at the Recreation Center. The regulars are looking for new faces to join them. They usually arrive at approximately 1 p.m.   NO FEE!

SENIOR TRANSPORTATION

Center Line Parks & Recreation, in cooperation with Warren Parks and Recreation, offers a curb-to-curb senior transportation service. This service helps seniors and handicapped persons remain independent for life. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT DRIVERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE TO ASSIST PASSENGERS IN ANY WAY.

Hours of Bus Operation–Monday thru Friday 9a.m.–3p.m.

Transportation Office Hours–Monday–Friday 8a.m.-3 p.m.

Who is Eligible for Transportation: Any Center Line or Warren resident 55 years of age or older or handicapped individuals of any age.



IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

All trips must be scheduled through the dispatcher at (586) 268-0551

Please make your requests for trips at least 2 days but not more than two calendar weeks in advance.

Center Line residents pay a $4.00 fee, round trip.



SHOPPING TRIPS:

Every 1st Tuesday of the month: Meijers or Hoover 11

Every Wednesday: WalMart or Meijers,

Every Thursday: Bus travels to area malls on a rotating basis (Universal, Lakeside, Macomb, and Oakland).

MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS:

Individual appointments are taken for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays ONLY. Service area is within the cities of Center Line or Warren or within one mile outside of the city of Warren.

Medical appointments must be scheduled no earlier than two weeks in advance.

There is a maximum of two (2) individual appointments per week.



All appointments need to be concluded by 2 p.m. OTHERWISE YOU MUST MAKE YOUR OWN ARRANGEMENTS FOR TRANSPORTATION HOME.

SENIOR CITIZEN CHORE SERVICE

The Senior Citizen Chore Service program is for persons age 60 and older who are residents of targeted areas in southern Macomb County and who are eligible. Center Line Residents call 586-469-6317

YOU MUST CALL EACH YEAR TO BE PLACED ON THE SNOW & GRASS LISTS...WE DO NOT CARRY PEOPLE OVER FROM SEASON TO SEASON OR YEAR TO YEAR ODD JOBS/SPECIAL PROJECTS During the months of November thru March, Chore Service does the following types of jobs. It may be necessary for you to purchase materials.

SENIOR BINGO

Small prizes and lots of fun at our Bingo for Seniors. Games begin at the Recreation Center at 10 a.m., and ends between 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon. $1.00 to play, $.25 per card, maximum of three cards. Every month is birthday month, let us know that it’s your birthday (proof required) and you don’t have to pay the $1 to play!

INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE

AARP provides income tax assistance to senior citizens ages 60 and over, as well as handicapped individuals. Taxes will be done on Tuesdays beginning in February. Please phone the Recreation Dept at 757-1610 for an appointment after January 15.



SENIOR SOFTBALL LEAGUE

The Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring two senior Softball teams which will again participate in the Macomb County Senior Softball League this summer. Men and women, age 55 years or older in calendar year Jan.1, 2008 through Dec 31, 2008 are eligible. For additional information, contact the Center Line Parks & Recreation Department at 757-1610.

SMART BUS TICKETS

If you are a resident age 60 or over or handicapped, the 2008 SMART bus ticket allotment is available. Picture ID showing proof of residency is required. If you are under 60 and are handicapped, your Medicare card or proof of disability income is also required. Phone 586-757-1610 for further info.

Purchase DISCOUNT TICKETS at the Recreation Center before you go. Tickets are sold Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Tickets are good during the 2008 Summer Season.

SEASONAL SERVICES

Seasonal services are currently available in Center Line, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Eastpointe, Warren and Clinton Twp. Service is limited and may be granted on a priority basis for those determined to be in the “greatest economic or social need.”



SNOW REMOVAL To be put on our Snow Removal List you MUST call between August 15th and October 15th. You will receive a letter of confirmation near the beginning of December. Once you receive the letter it is NOT necessary to call when it snows. Snow removal is usually performed after a snowfall of THREE (3) or more inches. Under normal conditions, snow is cleared within one to 5 days of snowfall.



GRASS CUTTING To be put on our Grass Cutting List you MUST call between February 1st and March 15th. If your name is placed on the Grass List you will receive a letter of confirmation before grass cutting season begins. It is NOT necessary to call again for grass cutting. It will be cut approximately once every two (2) weeks, weather permitting. Grass cutting generally begins the first of May and continues through September. Please remember we are NOT a landscaping service. For other jobs such as trimming bushes, you must call so a job request can be taken and scheduled.

ODD
JOBS:

Phone (586) 759-9150. If you qualify, you will be contacted to arrange a convenient time and date for service. Odd jobs are primarily done from November through March and include:

*minor plumbing

*change storms / screens

*carpet cleaning

*minor electrical

*clean and repair gutters

*replace locks

*install window plastic

*install smoke alarms

*change furnace filters

*wash windows

*trim bushes

*interior painting (1 room at a time)

YOGA/PILATES SYNERGY

For TEENS & ADULTS

Second session begins March 26

This class combines the most effective movements from Yoga & Pilates, (Core Conditioning) to give participants more rapid & balanced development of their bodies than when either discipline is performed separately. You will develop a LONG, LEAN, BODY, with this workout which relieves stress, creates better balance & helps you lose weight. Bring a Yoga Mat or exercise mat or they will be available for sale ($25). Classes held at the Center Line Parks & Recreation Center.

LINE DANCING FOR ALL AGES

$7 per session Wednesday Nights beginning January 16

7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for beginners

8 p.m. to 9 p.m. for intermediates

Have fun learning to dance and enjoy exercising at the same time. Learn a new dance each week! You don’t need a partner to learn to line dance. Dress comfortably, no heels or boots. Class will be held at the Center Line Rec. Center. No need to sign up or pay in advance, just come on Wednesday nights, pay only for the classes you attend,and have lots of fun dancing.



OPEN SWIM

Following water aerobics we have use of the pool until 9 p.m. Must be 52” tall or accompanied by an adult in the water Same schedule as Water Aerobics $2 per person If school is closed for any reason, the pool will also be closed.
